Meet Your Instructors

Kamy Henson | Owner, Director
Kamy has been in the industry for over 33 years and has 15 years experience as a studio owner/director. Originally from Illinois, she began dancing and tumbling at the age of 5. Her training continued when her family moved to Colorado when Kamy was 12. She studied dance through her teens, as well as competed as a gymnast. As a young adult, Kamy began teaching ballet, tap and jazz to children and adults of all ages. She has taught dance workshops, coached cheerleading squads, and has choreographed many award winning routines for national dance competitions. In her ventures she has also directed numerous recital productions and choreographed/performed in several Nutcracker performances.
Kamy's talent and creativity can also be seen her teaching style, choreography, dance productions & costume design.
Aubrey Henson | Instructor
Aubrey has grown up in a dance studio. Her first class was at the age of 4, taught by her mother Kamy. She has trained extensively in ballet, tap, jazz and modern techniques. She has performed and competed throughout Denver and has won many top place awards at various National Dance Competitions. Aubrey is also a scholarship recipient from Pulse 2010 Dance Convention. She was invited to do a solo performance at the 'International Woman's Day of Denver' event in 2010. Aubrey has also been invited to attend a dance workshop in Las Vegas in fall 2012.
Aubrey is currently studing to be a Phlebotomist and is expected to have her degree later this year. Aubrey has been teaching for over 6 years. As a choreographer, she has won many awards at National dance competitions.
Holly Reno | Instructor
Holly began her dance training with the Pueblo Civic Ballet, before moving to the Denver area where she trained with the Denver Civic Ballet, Ballet Arts and many other local ballet schools. She has attended many dance workshops throughout the U.S. Holly worked as a teachers assistant for many years before teaching her own classes. She has taught at various studios throughout Denver, Nebraska and Wyoming. Many of Holly's students have been award winning dancers at National Dance Competitions. Her background also includes working with schools doing choreography for musicals. Holly strives to makes dance an enjoyable experience for all her students.
Amy Fong | Instructor
Amy started dancing at the age of 3. She has studied ballet and jazz for many years. Amy was one of the original 20 dancers in the Junior Grand Rapids Civic Ballet Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She danced with the company for over 5 years, performing all over Greater Michigan. Amy studied with instructors from all over the country. She has performed roles from Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Carmen and more. Amy has been teaching dance for over 15 years, she says it was one of the best things she has ever done. Her passion is to watch young dancers grow into beautiful ballerinas. She is thankful to be an intricate part of this wonderful experience.
Jamie Horban | Instructor
Jamie Horban is excited to be joining the Denver Dance Community this year after living and working in Boston, Atlanta and Chicago. She trained in Chicago for many years in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, tap, modern, tango, hip hop, lyrical, belly dance, flamenco, hip-hop, musical theater, aerial acrobatics, African dance, salsa and Latin. She has trained at Evanston School of Ballet, Ruth Page Dance Center, Lou Conte Dance Studio, Ellis du Boulet, Chicago Ballet, Gus Giordano, Joel Hall Dance Center. She graduated from Northwestern University with a BS in dance and film. She has danced with numerous dance companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago, Dance Chicago, White Oak Dance Project, and Latin American Dance Company. She has taught at Interlochen Arts Academy, Atlanta Ballet, Dance 411, Korean Dance Company, Angel Chinese Dance Theater, Northlight Theater, and Ballet Legere just to name a few. She has choreographed for many dance companies, theaters and production companies around the United States including the Atlanta Ballet Pre Pros, The Chicago Cultural Center, Dance Chicago, Jean Ann Ryan Productions , Stone Mountain Park, The Actor's Gymnasium, Northlight Theatre, Northbrook Theatre, Bailiwick Theater, Theater with a Twist, Metropolis Performing Arts Center, Ethnic Exposure Dance Company, Ballet Legere and CK Dance Company in Palm Springs, California among many others. Jamie is the artistic director of Solestance Productions, that has produced festivals nationwide for 12 years and has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, WZRD Radio, The Daily Herald, Pioneer Press, Channel 11 WTTW Chicago, Channel 9 WGN Chicago, Chicago Public Radio, and Creative Loafing Atlanta.

Ian Alvarado | Instructor
Ian has been dancing for over 10 years. He has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop & Ballroom. Ian has been forturnate enough to have worked with many esteemed dance professionals such as Tony Copola and Wade Robson. He studied dance at The Denver School of the Arts and graduated with a dance major in 2005.
After college, Ian began teaching dance thoughout metro Denver. His career gave him an opportunity to study dance in Hollywood, CA where he taught ballroom at Aurthur Murray Studios. He specializes in Hip Hop, Jazz and Lyrical techniques. Now that Ian is back in Denver, he plans on continuing to share his enthusiasm for dance by teacing and performing.
Kara Kunz | Guest Instructor
Kara has been training, teaching and performing throughout the Denver Metro Area for over 18 years. She has studied extensively in ballet, tap, jazz & modern techniques (with an emphasis on Horton and Graham). Kara was an ensemble dancer with “The Denver Contemporary Dance Theatre” under the direction of the late Thomas Dixon. She has worked with World Renowned choreographers and teachers; Gary Abbot, the late Roger Turner, the late Leni Wylliams & Franca Telesio.
Kara has choreographed numerous routines for competitions, performances & productions and has worked with many Colorado studios, high schools & colleges. Kara is also a judge and a master class instructor for National Dance Competitions. Kara now lives in Gillette, WY, still performing/training with the LegaCy Dance Ensemble.
